Meeting with representatives of the Asian Development Bank

On March 24 this year, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov held a meeting with representatives of the delegation of the Asian Development Bank headed by President Masatsugu Asakawa.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan Timur Ishmetov, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Ilkhom Norkulov and Deputy Minister Bobur Abdinazarov, Deputy Minister of Finance Odilbek Isakov, Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Behzod Khamroyev and Director of the State Assets Management Agency Akmalkhon Ortikov.
From the side of the guests, the meeting was attended by the Director of the Permanent Mission of the Asian Development Bank in Uzbekistan Cindy Malvicini, Director General of the Department of Central and West Asia Evgeny Zhukov, Director General for Private Sector Operations Susan Gaburi, Chief Advisor to the President of the Asian Development Bank Haruto Takimura and other responsible persons.

During the meeting, the current economic situation, ensuring macroeconomic stability, strengthening the transition to a green economy, cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Asian Development Bank, reforms carried out in our country over the past 5 years, measures taken to ensure economic growth during the pandemic, changes in the allocation of mortgage loans, new areas of public-private partnership, issues of maintaining social stability, reducing inflation and food security.

Also at the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the implementation of reforms during the pandemic, the continuation of privatization processes, ensuring stability in the banking sector, strengthening social support, land reform, projects for the development of rural entrepreneurship, the development of small and medium-sized businesses, and the reduction of methane emissions, which is one of the important factors in the transition to a green economy, opportunities for the production of electric vehicles and digitalization.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to expand mutually beneficial cooperation on the above issues.
