Meeting with representatives of the Asian Development Bank

On December 1 of this year, the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a meeting with representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Asian Development Bank Jalilov Begzod (Senior Economist), Stephen Goldfinch (Head of Mission), Yannis Fourniadis (Geosciences Specialist) and representatives of the Department of Green Economy Development of the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction.

The purpose of the mission was to provide advice on support in making adaptive investment decisions for climate change resilience.

At the meeting, the parties discussed such issues as the development of tools to identify climate risks and natural disasters in the areas of activity support, the identification of needs to increase the capacity of employees of interested ministries and departments in the above areas.

In addition, the Asian Development Bank proposed the organization of a workshop for relevant ministries and departments on the nature, importance and ways of implementing and applying tools to identify climate risks and natural disasters.

Also, the Director of the Green Economy Development Department Utkirjon Kholbadalov put forward proposals of the Ministry for further cooperation with the ADB in various areas of green growth.

As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed on further cooperation on the introduction of tools for identifying climate risks and natural disasters, as well as holding a seminar in March next year.
