On June 30 of this year, the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction held a meeting with representatives of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank to discuss the project “Implementation of infrastructure projects throughout the republic, including the development of external engineering and communication infrastructure of special economic, small and youth industrial zones” under the leadership of the Director General of the infrastructure projects implementation Department of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank Ms. Supi Teravaninthorn.

This project is included in the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated December 30, 2021 No. RP-72 “On approval of the investment program of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2022-2026 and the introduction of new approaches and mechanisms for managing investment projects”. The resolution provides for the implementation of this project with the involvement of borrowed funds of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank in the amount of 200.0 million US dollars.

The meeting was attended by a senior specialist in investment operations, Ms. Mehek Marwaha, and a specialist in private sector operations, Igor Popkov, Head of the Department for the Formation and Analysis of projects at the expense of extra-budgetary sources-Akmalbek Allabergenov and the deputy head of the Department for the formation and analysis of projects at the expense of extra-budgetary sources Bakhodir Turaev participated.

At the meeting, the concept of the project, the mechanisms of project implementation and the issues of launching the project on time were discussed.

In the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to develop cooperation and expand cooperation on the above issues.
