Meeting with representatives of international organizations for the development of vocational education

On June 30 of this year, the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction hosted a meeting of Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Jamshid Kuchkarov with representatives of international organizations on the development of vocational education in Uzbekistan.

The meeting was attended by the heads of the Ministries of Higher and Secondary Special Education and Employment and Labor Relations, the State Inspectorate for Supervision of the Quality of Education, as well as responsible representatives of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Cabinet of Ministers and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Representatives of such international organizations as: World Bank, Asian Development Bank, EU Delegation Mission, UN, UNESCO, International Labour Organization (ILO), Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), etc.

The agenda included issues on the further development of the vocational education system of Uzbekistan in accordance with international standards.

At the beginning of the meeting, the participants were provided with brief information on the current and proposed education system, the labor market, the certification process of professions, the main priorities of the vocational education system, as well as the development of educational programs and their implementation in the learning process.

In particular, it was noted that the priorities include:
-increase to 50% of the coverage of vocational education of graduates of the 9th and 11th grades;
-increase in short-term courses for the unemployed;
-increase to 50 directions of dual education;
- implementation of international educational programs;
-creation of skill assessment centers, etc.
At the same time, at the meeting, representatives of ministries and agencies, as well as international organizations shared their views and proposals on the development of the education system. Thus, it was noted that the effective implementation of transformations requires highly qualified personnel, a well-defined set of professional skills that meet the priority directions of the country's development and further strengthening of the competitive environment through the active involvement of the private sector.

In addition, ongoing projects of international organizations were presented, in terms of creating mono-centers, training professional skills in the food, textile and logistics industries.
Following the results of the working meeting, the parties agreed to create a Coordinating Council with the participation of responsible representatives of ministries and agencies of the Republic, as well as foreign experts in order to further consolidate the implementation of measures to improve the system of dual vocational education in Uzbekistan.
