The 94th meeting of the Economic Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held

On June 10, 2022, Nur-Sultan, the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Jamshid Kuchkarov, took part in the 94th meeting of the CIS Economic Council.

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Chairmen of the governments of Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Armenia, the Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Turkmenistan, the Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee and the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

The agenda of the meeting included issues covering various areas of economic cooperation of the CIS member states.

From the beginning, the heads of delegations of the CIS countries briefly exchanged views on topical issues of economic cooperation between the CIS countries.

The meeting heard information about the main target macroeconomic indicators of the development of the economy of the CIS member states for 2021. It is noted that in 2021 the CIS countries mostly adhered to the recommended values of indicators characterizing macroeconomic stability. The total gross domestic product (GDP) of the CIS countries in 2021, according to preliminary estimates, increased in real terms by 4.7% (in 2020 it decreased by 2.5%).

At the same time, special attention was paid during the meeting to the consideration of the current economic situation in the CIS member states and possible joint measures to respond to emerging problems.

The relevant decisions on the following issues were also considered and adopted:

- practical measures to inform about a nuclear accident or radiation emergency, the scope and content of assistance within the framework of the obligations stipulated by the Agreement on Cooperation of the CIS Member States on Preparedness in the Event of a Nuclear Accident or Radiation Emergency and Mutual Assistance in the Elimination of their Consequences of November 2, 2018;

- on granting the status of the center for commercialization of innovations of the member states of the Interstate Program of Innovative Cooperation of the CIS member states for the period up to 2030;

- on the results of the Year of Architecture and Urban Planning in the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2021 and a number of other issues.

The participants of the meeting also discussed organizational issues, in particular, the issue of holding the next 95th meeting of the CIS Economic Council on September 23, 2022 in Moscow, Russian Federation was considered.

Following the meeting, the participants decided to continue economic cooperation, including within the framework of the CIS Economic Council.
