Videoconference with representatives of the International Monetary Fund

On July 27, the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the International Monetary Fund held a videoconference.

The meeting was attended by Chief Economist of the International Monetary Fund Amanda Sayegh, Expert on Public Finance Management Avril Halstead, Expert on Public-Private Partnership, Public Investment and Public Procurement Management Martin Darcy, as well as officials from the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The parties exchanged views on a number of issues, including the role of the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction in the reform of state-owned enterprises, in particular, the planned and ongoing reforms in key infrastructure sectors, such as energy, water supply, transport, as well as the transformation process, privatization, strengthening competitiveness, macroeconomic indicators.

Representatives of the International Monetary Fund expressed readiness to support the ongoing economic reforms in Uzbekistan and praised the effectiveness of the reforms.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to strengthen cooperation in the areas discussed in future processes.
