On July 12 of this year, first deputy Minister Ilkhom Norkulov met with representatives of the “Heritage” Foundation delegation (USA), Director of the center for International Trade and Economics Terry Miller and Research Manager and Editor of the Economic freedom Index Anthony Kim at the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction.

The meeting was also attended by employees of the division for the Development of Integration and bilateral economic cooperation, the division "Doing Business" and working with other international ratings of the Ministry, as well as representatives of the Institute for Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research headed by Director Umid Abidkhodzhayev.

The main topics for discussion were the achieved results of Uzbekistan according to the report “Index of Economic Freedom – 2021”. The guests were informed about the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan, including in the field of efficiency of finance, land reforms, trade, investment and etc.

During the meeting, the American side noted that Uzbekistan is one of the countries with the fastest growing GDP and economy, as well as the rapid growth of Uzbekistan's index indicators was noted separately. The guests showed particular interest in the ongoing reforms in the field of privatization of state-owned enterprises in Uzbekistan.

The Uzbek side invited the experts of the “Heritage” Foundation to participate in the international conference on “Uzbekistan: achievements of economic reforms and outlook”, which is scheduled for September 29-30, 2021.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to expand cooperation in a closer format.
