Meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Serbia to Uzbekistan

On April 8 this year, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Ilhom Norkulov received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Serbia with residence in Moscow, Miroslav Lazanski.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the state of Uzbek-Serbian relations and prospects for further development.

The Uzbek side informed the Ambassador in detail about the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan in various sectors of the economy. Particular attention was paid to the development of the "green" economy, agriculture, tourism, as well as the integrated development of the regions of the republic.

In turn, Mr. Lazanski expressed interest in developing cooperation in the field of agriculture. In particular, the high potential of Serbia in such areas as wine and seed production was noted.

In this context, the Ambassador invited the delegation of Uzbekistan to take part in the 88th international agricultural exhibition "NOVI SAD INTERNATIONAL AGRICULTURAL FAIR 2021", which will be held in September this year in Serbia.

Serbia's significant success in the development of veterinary laboratories was noted. It was proposed to consider the possibility of establishing cooperation in this direction.

The parties also discussed the possibility of exchanging experience in the field of tourism development. Mr. Lazanski emphasized that mountain tourism, health and ecological tourism are developed in Serbia.

In addition, the Uzbek side put forward a proposal for the development of interregional cooperation between the countries.

Following the meeting, the parties reached an agreement to intensify bilateral meetings, including through videoconferences, to discuss the prospects for the development of relations and contribute to bringing Uzbek-Serbian cooperation to a new level.
