The 87th meeting of the Economic Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States

On 15 September this year, the 87th meeting of the Economic Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held in the format of videoconferencing. The agenda of the event, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Jamshid Kuchkarov, included the discussion of issues on economic cooperation between the CIS member states in the trade, economic, agro-industrial, scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The event was attended by the First Deputy Prime Ministers of Azerbaijan and Tajikistan, the Deputy Prime Ministers of Armenia, Belarus, the Minister of Economy and Infrastructure of Moldova, the First Deputy Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, plenipotentiary representatives of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in the Commission on Economic Issues of the CIS, as well as the Chairman of the CIS Central Bank, S.Ledev.

The heads of delegation of the Commonwealth countries exchanged views on the socio-economic situation of the CIS member States, paying particular attention in their statements to the efforts of the Commonwealth countries to combat the pandemic.

As a result of the meeting, 18 decisions were adopted on strengthening cooperation in the economic, energy, agricultural and agricultural sectors, as well as on financial support for the activities of CIS bodies and a number of other measures, including: "Draft Plan of Measures for the Implementation of the First Phase (2021-2025) of the Strategy for the Economic Development of the Commonwealth of Independent States up to 2030" "Draft Inter-State Programme of Innovative Cooperation of the CIS Member States up to 2030".

During the meeting participants also discussed organizational issues, in particular the following 88th regular meeting of the CIS Economic Council on december 2020 in Moscow (Russian Federation).

         At the end of the meeting, the participants adopted a decision on the continuation of economic cooperation, including within the framework of the Economic Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The speakers expressed their gratitude to the Uzbek side for the high level of organization of the 87th meeting of the CIS Economic Council.
