Round table on export strategy with SCO countries

On July 7, 2020, the representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan participated in a round table on export strategy with the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The event was organized in a video conference format.

The initiative for organizing the event was proposed by Russian Federation, chairing in 2020.  It gathered the representatives of state authorities and business circles of the SCO member countries, as well as the SCO Deputy Secretary-General Sherali Saidamir Jonon.

The agenda of the round table included the following issues:

- analysis of the prospects for the development of trade and economic cooperation between the SCO member states;

- analysis of government support measures for export-oriented enterprises of the SCO member states;

- prospects for the development of the SCO dialogue on technical regulation and standardization;

- development of joint electronic trading platforms in the SCO space.

Particular attention was paid to discuss issues of supporting the economies of the SCO member countries in the post-crisis period caused by COVID-19 pandemic.

Within the framework of the event, the director of the Department of International Economic Cooperation and Integration Processes of the Ministry Matkarimov Shukhrat Tulibaevich conducted a presentation on the topic “Inter-regional cooperation as a factor in the development of trade and economic relations”.

Initiatives to expand the interaction of the regions of the Organization’s member countries, advanced by the Uzbek side during the speech, were warmly received by all participants of the event.

Following the outcome of the round table, the parties agreed to hold such events on a regular basis.
