On July 25 this year, a meeting was held with representatives of the Japan Foreign Trade Development Organization (JETKO).

The Japan Foreign Trade Development Organization (JETRO) was established in 1958 by the Japanese government as the main organization responsible for the comprehensive implementation of trade policy. For over two decades, the organization has helped promote exports to help Japan rebuild its post-war economy. However, in the first half of the 1980s, as Japan's trade surplus was growing and international trade was increasing, JETRO made a 180-degree turn and began to promote imports to Japan, which remains its main role to this day.

The organization is also actively involved in helping developing countries set up auxiliary industries, establish industrial cooperation between Japan and other developed countries, support regional economic development in Japan and other countries, and promote international exchanges at various levels.

Together with international organizations, JETRO conducts research on the world economy, trade and investment, the results of which serve the development of duty-free trade and international business. To further develop international cooperation, JETRO forms research groups with private business leaders and presents the results to interested government organizations.

JETRO head office chairman - Nobuhiko Sasaki.

JETRO also manages the following two organizations:

 - In 2017, Japan Overseas Food Promotion Center was established. It focuses its resources on Japanese agriculture, forestry, fish and food branding.

 - Institute of Emerging Economies of Japan was founded in 1958 and joined JETRO in 1998. It conducts research and development in the field of regional development.

Main activities of JETRO

1. Attracting foreign direct investment.

2. Assistance to Japanese companies abroad.

3. Support the development of international trade and the growth of the world economy.
