On February 11 of this year, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov held a meeting with Managing Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for Central Asia Ms. Zsuzsanna Hargitai.

The meeting was also attended by First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Ilkhom Norkulov, Deputy Minister Bobur Abdinazarov, Head of the Representative Office of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Uzbekistan Alkis Drakinos, international and local specialists of the EBRD.

        During the meeting, the parties discussed current and prospective projects aimed at providing employment and increasing incomes of the population, as well as ensuring "green growth” in the economy, in particular, the use of green energy sources at large enterprises, the production of electric vehicles, the development of the mining industry based on foreign experience, the establishment of new production, improving the transportation of gas products, reducing methane emissions., The issues of privatization and transformation of state assets by improving financing mechanisms in the private sector were also discussed.

        Also during the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan, in particular, on the development of small and medium-sized businesses by forming the necessary skills among the population, social support, effective use of household lands and greenhouses, support for dehkan activities, new procedures for allocating agricultural land on the basis of lease.

        Following the meeting, the parties agreed to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation.
