On January 20 this year, in order to discuss Cooperation Program of World Bank for 2022-2026 on the ground, the World Bank delegation led by the head of the World Bank Country Office in Uzbekistan Marco Mantovanelli held an online meeting with representatives of the regional government, representatives of the social sphere, entrepreneurs and the public of the Syrdarya, Jizzakh and Samarkand regions.

        The meeting was also attended by the Director of the Department for the Development of International Cooperation and the Protocol Service of the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Shukhrat Matkarimov and the Head of the Department for Cooperation with the World Bank Group Behzod Khamroyev.

        During the meeting, the program of cooperation of the World Bank Group with Uzbekistan for 2016-2021, their results and progress, the status of current World Bank projects, as well as issues of effective organization of future programs were discussed.

At the same time, Marco Mantovanelli expressed his opinion on the effective reforms implemented in Uzbekistan after 2017, the goals necessary for the further socio-economic development of the country, in particular, inclusive economic growth and participation of the private sector in its development, increasing attention to the development of human capital, improving environment and response to climate change, the transition to a green economy.

        At the meeting, representatives of the regions presented their proposals for cooperation with the World Bank in priority areas.

        Discussions are underway on the World Bank Cooperation Program for 2022-2026, meetings with representatives of Andijan, Namangan and Ferghana regions are scheduled in line.
