On November 18 of this year, the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction hosted a meeting of the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Ilkhom Norkulov with representatives of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), headed by the international expert of UNDP Nelson Stratta.

The meeting was attended by the Head of the Department for Inclusive Growth of the UNDP Office, Diera Kabulova, the Head of the UNDP program Komolkhon Islamov, as well as the heads of relevant departments and departments of the Ministry, in particular the Department for Monitoring National Goals and Objectives in the Field of Sustainable Development and Analysis of the Standard of Living of the Population, the Department of Demography, Improving the Level and Quality of Human Capital, the Department for the Development of Strategic Development Programs and Analysis of Long-term Growth Factors, Department of the implementation of the necessary economic and regulatory framework for the development of the digital economy, the use of artificial intelligence technologies and tools, and others.

At the meeting, the issue of the process of developing a comprehensive Strategy for financing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the Republic of Uzbekistan was considered.

During the meeting, the main objectives, methodological approach, main stages and starting point for the development of a Comprehensive strategy for financing the SDGs in Uzbekistan were also discussed. It was noted that the formation of a Financing Strategy will also provide an opportunity to further improve coordination and interaction between ministries and agencies.

At the same time, the participants of the meeting considered possible assistance in identifying the main shortcomings in the sources of financing on which the Strategy will be able to focus.

Moreover, issues related to the coordination of the process of developing the draft strategy and its further approval by the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan were considered.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation and mutual support in current and future projects, as well as to form a working group to develop a Comprehensive financing strategy to mobilize the resources needed to achieve the SDGs.
