Meeting with the Armenian Ambassador

On September 17, this year, the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Republic of Uzbekistan (with residence in Yerevan) Aram Grigoryan.

           The meeting was attended by the Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Protocol Service Shukhrat Matkarimov, responsible employees of the department, as well as the head of the Department of analysis and forecasting of Foreign economic activity Erkin Majidov.

           The main topics for discussion were the current state and possible prospects of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation. The Ambassador was informed about the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan, including in the field of transformation and privatization of state-owned enterprises, the digital economy, innovation, etc.

Aram Grigoryan proposed to consider the issue of organizing the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Armenia. In particular, he put forward proposals to include a number of issues on the agenda of the meeting, including in the field of transport, agriculture, the creation of joint ventures in certain industries, the opening of trading houses in the cities of Tashkent and Yerevan, etc.

In turn, the Uzbek side proposed to consider the organization of a Business forum with the participation of entrepreneurs and business circles within the framework of the planned meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission.

In addition, the Uzbek side invited the Armenian side to participate in the international conference "Uzbekistan: achievements and prospects of economic reforms", which is scheduled to be held on September 29-30 this year in Tashkent.

           Following the meeting, the parties agreed on further mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas.
