The state of urbanization in the Republic of Uzbekistan by region

Urbanization is a process of increasing the role of cities in the development of society and the economy, as well as the formation of urban infrastructure, which contributes to positive changes in the socio-professional and demographic structure of the population, its lifestyle and culture to a qualitatively new level. These images illustrate the state of urbanization across the provinces. In which part of the regions the urbanization should be developed, the dense population is described.

Today in the Republic of Uzbekistan the urban population - 17 487 thousand people (50.6%), the rural population is 17,071.4 thousand people (49.4%).

From this,

Tashkent region: urban population - 1 469.6 thousand people (49.1%), rural population - 1 524.4 thousand people (50.9%), the level of urbanization - 49.1%;

Syrdarya region: urban population - 366.9 thousand people (42.6%), rural population - 494.2 thousand people (57.4%), the level of urbanization - 42.6%;

Jizzakh region: urban population - 659.9 thousand people (46.8%), rural population - 750.7 thousand people (53.2%), the level of urbanization - 46.8%;

Samarkand region: urban population - 1,458.6 thousand people (37%), rural population - 2,488.8 thousand people (63%), the level of urbanization - 37%;

Fergana region: urban population - 2,152 thousand people (56.3%), rural population - 1,667.9 thousand people (43.7%), the level of urbanization - 56.3%;

Namangan region: urban population - 1,852.9 thousand people (64.6%), rural population - 1,014.5 thousand people (35.4%), the level of urbanization - 64.6%;

Kashkadarya region: urban population - 1,433 thousand people (43%), rural population - 1,901.5 thousand people (57%), the level of urbanization - 43%;

Surkhandarya region: urban population - 971.4 thousand people (36.2%), rural population - 1 709.6 thousand people (63.8%), the level of urbanization - 36.2%;

Navoi region: urban population - 495.7 thousand people (48.9%), rural population - 508.1 thousand people (51.1%), the level of urbanization - 48.9%;

Bukhara region: urban population - 715.5 thousand people (36.8%), rural population - 1,231.4 thousand people (63.2%), the level of urbanization - 36.8%;

Khorezm region: urban population - 626.8 thousand people (33.1%), rural population - 1 266.3 thousand people (66.9%), the level of urbanization - 33.1%;

The Republic of Karakalpakstan: urban population - 942.1 thousand people (49%), rural population - 981.7 thousand people (51%), the level of urbanization - 49%.
