For the first time, the Republic of Uzbekistan held the regular VII meeting of the CIS Industrial Policy Council

On May 14 this year, the regular VII meeting of the CIS Industrial Policy Council (hereinafter - the Council) was held in the format of a video conference chaired by the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction.

For reference: on May 8 of this year, the Agreement on cooperation in the field of industry and the establishment of the Council for Industrial Policy of the CIS Member States entered into force in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The document provides for the interaction of the Parties in the field of industry in order to pursue a coordinated industrial policy, and also regulates the organizational and legal issues of the activities of the Industrial Policy Council of the CIS member states.
The competent authority responsible for the implementation of the Agreement, including interaction within the framework of the Council for Industrial Policy of the CIS Member States, has been designated the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
This event was attended by representatives and heads of the Ministries of Economy and Industry of Belarus, the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Energy and Industry of Kyrgyzstan, the Ministries of Industry and Trade, Energy and Agriculture of Russia, the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan, the Ministry of Economic Development and Reduction poverty of Uzbekistan, as well as vice-rector for science of the Russian University of Chemical Technology named D.I. Mendeleev and Deputy Director of the Department for Economic Cooperation of the CIS Executive Committee.

At the meeting, 12 issues on the agenda were considered and discussed, covering 5 draft documents and information and analytical materials, on which appropriate decisions were made, including:
Project of the Concept of digital transformation of the chemical and fuel-energy sectors of the CIS member states and plans of priority measures for their implementation;
Project of the Package of Measures for the Development of Chemical Engineering of the CIS Member States;
Project Agreement on Cooperation of the CIS Member States in the Development of Civil Shipbuilding and the Production of Ship Component Equipment;
On the development of a project document on the development of industrial (industrial) cooperation in the Commonwealth of Independent States for the period up to 2030 and others.
Within the framework of the Council, the Ministry of Economic Development presented and discussed a project program of conceptual directions for the development of industrial cooperation between the member states.
For reference: At the summit of the heads of state of the CIS on December 18, 2020, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.Mirziyoyev proposed an initiative to adopt a program of industrial cooperation in the CIS.
In addition, the Uzbek side announced its readiness for cooperation in the development of electric vehicle production in the CIS.
At the end of the meeting, the participants in the meeting signed 12 decisions, an agreement was reached to hold the next meeting of the Council in person in 2022 in the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as to continue interaction in the field of industry, including within the framework of the said Council.
