The Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction organized an online meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea to discuss issues of cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea on the coordination of points, making necessary changes and discussing the signing of a framework agreement on climate change.

 The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction, the Hydrometeorological Service Center, the State Committee for Ecology and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.

 

The aim of the project is the efficient use of natural resources in the face of climate change, as well as cooperation in ensuring an environmentally safe economy. The project is aimed at reducing and eliminating greenhouse gas emissions in energy, industry, transport, construction, waste management, agriculture and forestry, as well as capacity building in the field of measurement, reporting and confirmation of national reserves (MRV), expanding opportunities for adaptation to climate change, development and transfer of climate technologies, cooperation in the field of climate sciences and technologies including, modeling, forecasting and observation.

 

Within the framework of the Agreement, the parties also agreed to conduct joint activities aimed at the exchange of climate change specialists, researchers, scientists, including capacity-building training

 During the event, the parties exchanged views on issues of interest to them and made the necessary changes and suggestions for further improvement of the project.

At the end of the event, the parties agreed to continue cooperation in organizational matters of the project.
