Seminar-traning on changes in the Index of Economic Freedom in 2022

In order to ensure the fulfillment of the task set at the next meeting of the Republican Council on International Ratings and Indices on April 14, 2022, the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction, together with responsible ministries and agencies, held a training seminar on April 27-28 on changes and updates in the methodology of the report of the Index of Economic Freedom 2022.

More than 30 specialists of ministries and agencies responsible for international ratings and indices, which are priorities for the Republic of Uzbekistan, took part in this training seminar.

Explanatory presentations were made by the responsible persons of the Ministry of Justice (property rights indicator), the Supreme Court (judicial effectiveness indicator), the Anti-Corruption Agency (state integrity indicator), the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction (business freedom indicator) and the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations (labor market freedom indicator) in the context of indicators for which a sharp decrease in values was recorded, as well as a change in the number and sources of data generation.

For reference: according to the report for this year, the number of sub-indicators was 49 (51 in the 2021 report), 34 remained unchanged, 17 were excluded and 16 were added again, and 32 sources were used (30 in 2021), while 6 sources of information were re-included, and 4 were completely excluded.

In the future, the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction will continue to coordinate and implement roadmaps for 2022, as well as promote and explain reforms and improvements aimed at improving Uzbekistan's position in international rankings and indices.
