The development of a green economy has become one of the most important priorities of all countries. Uzbekistan is also intensively promoting this direction through the "Strategy for the transition to a "green" economy for the period of 2019-2030," adopted in 2019. The green economic transition has also been emphasized in the "Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026" as one of the priority areas.
The Institute of Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research (IFMR) is establishing the Green Hub to analyze the situation and develop strategies to achieve sustainable economic progress based on the principles of the green economy. This platform aims to: a) attract and unite experts, research organizations, and international financial institutions in one venue and organize joint work; b) collect and systematize information related to the green economy and disseminate it to the society in the form of a knowledge hub.
On April 29th, IFMR's Green Hub will be officially launched within the framework of the "Stockholm+50" series of consultations with interested parties in Uzbekistan.
During the events, the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in association with international organizations, such as UNDP, WB, and others, will present and discuss the Green Growth Strategic Framework (GGSF) aimed at implementing the green transition of Uzbekistan until 2030.
This "Strategic Framework" will allow Uzbekistan to outline a sustainable path of economic development in six blocks of green growth and key cross-sectional themes with specific sectoral priorities based on international experience and proposals of international organizations.
The presentation of the Strategic Framework for Green Growth will be followed by a discussion with ministries, agencies, international organizations, and the scientific community to improve the prepared material.
Special attention will be devoted to familiarizing participants with the concept of the Stockholm+50 International Meeting, "A Healthy Planet for Prosperity - Our Responsibility, Our Opportunity."
Towards the end of the meeting, IFMR representatives will provide a detailed description of the goals and objectives of the IFMR Green Hub, its activities, and research areas.
