Meeting with representatives of the United Nations

On April 27 this year, a meeting was held between the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Ilkhom Norkulov and the UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan Roli Astkhana.

The guests included Simon Hacker, UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan, Zarif Jumayev, Economist and UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan, and also Umid Abidkhadjaev, Director of the Institute for Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research under the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction, Abdumalik Jalilov, Director of the Department of Macroeconomic Policy, Analysis and Forecasting, Sobir Khaytmuratov, Deputy Head of the Poverty Reduction Policy Department, Anvarkhon Umarkhujaev, Head of the Department for Monitoring National Goals and Objectives in the Field of Sustainable Development and Analysis of the Living Standards of the Population, Miryusup Umarov, Head of the Department of Development of Integration and Bilateral Economic Cooperation.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of expanding the scope of cooperation, strengthening the achievement of national sustainable development goals, the results of the first year of the UN framework cooperation program with Uzbekistan and work plans for subsequent years.

  They also exchanged views on changes in the country, in particular, to stabilize economic growth and use natural resources more efficiently through the transition to
a "green" economy.

  At the same time, the parties touched upon the issues of implementing programs and projects created based on cooperation, ensuring “green” growth, and further improving the quality of education.

  At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to develop interaction and expand cooperation on the above issues following the meeting.
