Meeting with representatives of the World Bank

On March 4 of this year, the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ilkhom Norkulov, met with a delegation led by the World Bank's Global Director for Environment, Disaster Risk Management, Sustainable Development and Land Resources, Sameh Wahba.
The meeting was attended by Kamiljon Khannarov, Director of the Department of Urbanization and Housing Development, Mohir Shagazatov, Head of the Department for Coordination of Land Reforms, Ravshanbek Rustam Ugli, Head of the Department for Urbanization Development, Behzod Hamroev, Head of the Department for Cooperation with the World Bank Group, as well as Christophe Push, Managing Director of the Practice of Urbanization, Sustainability and Land Use of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia, Jane Olga Ebinger, Managing Director of the World Bank for Sustainable Development in Central Asia, Rosanna Nitti, Chief Urbanization Specialist of the World Bank Group, as well as other responsible persons.
During the meeting, the processes of urbanization in Uzbekistan, urban development projects, their phased planning, the current state, plans and prospects for the future, implemented land resources, attracting investors and experts to the industry, effective use of land, the state of urbanization in the regions and issues of land reforms were discussed.
The representatives of the delegation also made their proposals on the programs developed by the World Bank Group in the field of urbanization. In particular, the prospective use of residential areas and the creation of additional vacant land, as well as the improvement of tourist infrastructure in the regions were discussed.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on studying the experience of developed countries in this area, using programs developed by the World Bank, improving the infrastructure of cities, cooperation with international organizations.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to expand mutual relations and develop cooperation on the above issues.
