Meeting of the Joint Coordination Council between the UN and the Government on the implementation of the UN Cooperation Framework in Uzbekistan

On August 25 of this year, the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction held a meeting of the Joint Coordination Council between the UN and the government on the implementation of the main UN cooperation programs in Uzbekistan.

The meeting was attended by First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Norkulov, UN Permanent Coordinator in Uzbekistan Roli Astana, Permanent Representative of the UN Development Program in Uzbekistan Matilda Dimovska, as well as representatives of other ministries.

First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Ilham Ibrahimovich opened the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, the issues of improving the opportunities and living conditions of the population, human capital, as well as sustainable development became one of the main topics of discussion.

During the meeting, the meeting participants stressed that cooperation with the UN is developing day by day, which helps to create great and new opportunities. It was also stressed that programs on the transition to a green economy are being developed jointly with the UN.

Issues of gender equality were also raised during the meeting, the result of which was vividly emphasized at international meetings. On the way to building a New Uzbekistan, issues of supporting women, creating new jobs and developing the private sector were discussed.

As a result of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness for a further multifaceted and mutually beneficial partnership.
