On July 4 and 5 of this year, with the support of the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction, as well as a Consortium of Consultants, a two-day seminar was held on the development of a roadmap for decarbonization of industry and the national program for industrial symbiosis in Uzbekistan.

The consortium of LDK consultants "Consultants Engineers and Planners SA" (Greece); "Juru Energy Limited" (Great Britain); "International Synergies Ltd" (Great Britain); "Unicase Law Firm" (Uzbekistan), hired by the World Bank, assists the Government of Uzbekistan in developing innovative technological solutions for decarbonization and industrial symbiosis.

The roadmap for decarbonization of the industrial sector of Uzbekistan includes actions for the development of eco-industrial parks, as well as technically acceptable and feasible measures, key elements of the national program and implementation strategy.
During the two-day seminar, statistical data prepared by consultants were demonstrated.

The roadmap for Decarbonization of Industry is aimed at creating the right conditions and mechanisms by the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan in order to encourage industry to focus on decarbonization, as well as receiving support remuneration for having a decarbonization plan and annual improvement of indicators.
The first day of the seminar was attended by associations, departments and organizations of Uzbekistan, such as: Uztextilprom Association, Uzeltehsanoat Association, Uzpromstroymaterials Association, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, Food Industry Development Association of Uzbekistan, Uzkimesanoat JSC.

The second day was attended by Ministries, departments and organizations: the Ministry of Energy, the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Ecology and Environmental Protection, the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Statistics, the Directorate of the SIZ of Tashkent, SUE "Makhsustrans", LLC "Toshkent Shahar suv taminoti".
The consultants assessed the decarbonization potential in the long term. Applying the impact of each decarbonization measure to the predicted time allowed us to obtain a calculated decarbonization curve for the industry in the period from now to 2050. The path of decarbonization will be inextricably linked to several important decisions of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The measures for industrial symbiosis included the assessment of industrial symbiosis in the selected industrial zone and the identification of synergetic effects with the greatest potential for further implementation of a full feasibility study.

The measures for industrial symbiosis included the assessment of industrial symbiosis in the selected industrial zone and the identification of synergetic effects with the greatest potential for further implementation of a full feasibility study.
The assessment carried out in the Yakkasaroy industrial zone showed a significant decarbonization potential. The key results were:
- 12 synergies between industries have been identified, some of which are based on the compliance of resources in the SIZ.
- 15 synergies between industries where the partner industry requires the placement or introduction of new technology for implementation.

At the end of the seminar, the participants discussed the questions and comments of interest. Conclusions were also drawn on the proposed recommendations based on illustrative examples and practical results.
