July 4, 2022. - The Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan, with the financial support of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), plans to implement the project “Sustainable rural development".

This project provides for the provision of a long-term loan (600 million US dollars) allocated by the Islamic Development Bank on the basis of resolutions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated March 5, 2019 No. 4224 and the Cabinet of Ministers dated May 23, 2019 No. 428. USA).

Within the framework of the 2nd phase of the project "Sustainable Rural Development", the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) selected 157 mahalla gatherings of citizens in 21 districts of the Samarkand, Kashkadarya and Surkhandarya regions.

 

In particular, the Samarkand region – Bulungur, Dzhomboy, Ishtikhan, Kattakurgan, Narpai, Okdarya, Pakhtachinsk, Samarkand, Toylok and Urgut;

- Kashkadarya region-Kitab, Shakhrisabz, Yakkabag, Guzar, Dehkanabad and Kamashi;

- It is planned to organize work in Surkhandarya region – in Baysun, Sherabad, Angora, Muzrabat and Termez districts.

Within the framework of the program, the Islamic Development Bank has attracted a total of 256 million US dollars.it is planned to attract funds in dollars. As a result of the implementation of this project, the needs of 623 thousand rural residents in engineering infrastructure will be met.

 

The following works will be carried out within the framework of the project:

- Development of engineering and communication infrastructure (internal road, drinking water, electricity, alternative energy, etc.);

- Repair of social facilities (preschool education, general secondary education, medical institutions, etc.)Based on modern requirements, the construction of new ones based on energy-efficient and modern building materials.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to develop cooperation and expand cooperation on the above issues.
