In order to ensure the socio-economic growth of the Kashkadarya region by increasing the level of urbanization, it is planned to improve the transport infrastructure and create amenities for the population of the region, taking into account the opinion of specialists.

In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 28, 2022 No. DP-60, the level of urbanization of the Kashkadarya region, set out in paragraph 154 of the state program for the implementation of the “new development strategy of Uzbekistan for 2022-2026”, the level of achievement has been determined by 50 percent.

The Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction invited international experts and specialists to study the world experience on this issue.

International experts and specialists note that today on the territory of Kashkadarya region, settlements are located at a considerable distance from the transport infrastructure. This will have a negative impact on the socio-economic growth of the Kashkadarya region, including further improvement of the standard of living of the population, ensuring the needs of the population for goods and services in the shortest possible time, effective placement of social facilities and full provision of engineering and communication infrastructure.

One of the main factors of economic growth is the availability and efficient use of transport infrastructure.

Taking into account agglomeration and internal migration processes, it is planned to carry out work to ensure the compactness and convenient location of urban settlements with a population of more than 1.43 million people.

On the territory of Kashkadarya region there are a number of rural settlements bordering some cities. They include conditions (water, sewage, electricity, gas, etc.), the possibility of expanding the city through agglomeration of these territories is envisaged.

Proceeding from this, the Ministry of Economic Development and poverty reduction, together with the relevant ministries and departments, in order to ensure the above-mentioned issue, attention is paid to a number of areas listed below:

• full provision of infrastructure in the territory, Organization of further production, provision of Housing and social facilities (kindergarten, school, hospital, etc.) to create the foundation for restoration;

• to select a number of cities where the urban infrastructure is almost formed, to take appropriate measures and allocate resources to fully establish the infrastructure in this area;

• by selecting rural neighborhoods adjacent to the city and using its engineering and communication infrastructure, the main attention should be paid to taking appropriate measures with a view to introducing these rural neighborhoods into the urban area in the future.

For information: today the population of Kashkadarya region is about 3.4 million people, urbanization rate is 42.8%, that is the population of the city is 1.46 million people, the population of the village is 1.95 million people.

In order to create favorable conditions for the population in the territory of Kashkadarya, to ensure socio-economic growth, the need for goods and services is ensured by reaching the urbanization level by 50 percent and improving the transport infrastructure.
