Meeting with representatives of the International Monetary Fund

On April 13 this year, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov held a meeting with the delegation of the International Monetary Fund led by Ron van Rooden following the results of the mission under Article IV of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreements.

The meeting was attended by Chairman of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mamarizo Nurmuratov, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan Timur Ishmetov, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Ilkhom Norkulov, Deputy Ministers of Finance Odilbek Isakov and Ahadbek Khaydarov, Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Behzod Khamroev and other responsible persons.

From the side of the guests, the meeting was attended by Advisor to the Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Ilhom Umurzakov, Head of the International Monetary Fund in Uzbekistan Kevin Ros, Senior Economist Christine Richmond and Economist Moyad Al Rasasi.
During the meeting, the main directions of economic development, issues of cooperation in the areas of macroeconomic stability, inflation control, strengthening social policy, budget financing, food security, fiscal policy, privatization were discussed.
In turn, representatives of the International Monetary Fund positively assessed the ongoing economic reforms in Uzbekistan.

Also at the meeting, the parties exchanged views on economic reforms, the development of gas and electricity supplies, the service sector, cooperation with international financial institutions, and the experience of economic policy pursued during the pandemic.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to expand mutual ties and cooperation on the above issues.
