On April 11, 2022 the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Ilkhom Norkulov met with the General Vice-President of the United Nations Foundation Peter Yeo and the representative of UNICEF in Uzbekistan Munir Mammadzod.

The meeting was also attended by senators' assistants (staffers), representatives of the United States House of Representatives, an analyst of the Committee on Foreign Relations, representatives of the US Embassy and the UN Mission in Uzbekistan, as well as Director of the Institute for Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research at the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Umid Abidkhadzhayev, Deputy Director of the Poverty Reduction Policy Department Sobir Khayitmuradov, Director of the Department for the Development of International Cooperation Shukhrat Matkarimov, Director of the Department of Human Capital Development Azamat Davletyarov and other responsible representatives of the Ministry.

During the meeting, the sides discussed cooperation with the United Nations, the goals of National Sustainable Development, reforms carried out in the social sphere, liberalization of the economy of Uzbekistan and achievement of market reforms.

  In addition, special attention has been paid to the practical work carried out in recent years on economic reforms, in particular poverty reduction.

The sides also exchanged views on employment of the population, especially women and youth, the role of education and training systems, the current global economic situation and mitigation of its impact on the economy of Uzbekistan, food security.

  At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to expand cooperation on the above directions.
