Meeting with representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development

On March 24 of this year, the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction hosted a meeting of Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Jamshid Kuchkarov with representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, headed by EBRD President Ms. Odile Renaud-Basso.

The meeting was attended by Chairman of the Central Bank Mamarizo Nurmuratov, Finance Minister Timur Ishmetov, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Ilkhom Norkulov, First Deputy Finance Minister Omonullo Nasritdinkhodjaev, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Bobur Abdinazarov, Deputy Finance Minister Odilbek Isakov, as well as Director of the Agency for State Asset Management Akmalkhon Artykov.
The guests were attended by Managing Director for Central Asia Zsuzsanna Hargitai, EBRD Director for Switzerland, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Serbia, Ukraine, Liechtenstein and Montenegro Remigi Winzap, Managing Director for Sustainable Infrastructure Nandita Parshad, Director of the Department of Energy and Natural Resources (Russia, Caucasus and Central Asia) Aida Sitdikova, Deputy Director, Regional Head of the EBRD SME Support Group Bethel Holger, Director of the EBRD Communications Department Jonathan Charles, Head of the EBRD Representative Office in Uzbekistan Alkis Drakinos and others.

The agenda included issues on further reforms and privatization of state-owned enterprises and banks, reforms and operations of the mining sector, support for the policy of small and medium-sized businesses, decarbonization of Uzbekistan, development and implementation of projects to modernize the transportation system of natural gas and electricity, elimination of problems related to logistics, as well as measures for effective cooperation of the government Uzbekistan with the EBRD.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Uzbek side noted that it is necessary to continue cooperation in the areas of creating stable jobs, improving services for the population and development of green economy in the country, as well as improving digitalization and competitiveness, at the same time, special attention was paid to the importance of ensuring women's employment, mainly in the regions.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to expand mutually beneficial ties regarding cooperation in promoting the decarbonization strategy and the transition to a "green" economy.
