Meeting with representatives of the European Union

On November 2 of this year, the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction hosted a meeting of the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Ilkhom Norkulov with representatives of the European Union, headed by the Head of the Middle East Department/Persian Gulf and Central Asia, Directorate General for International Partnership of the European Commission by Sarah Rinaldi.

The meeting was also attended by Ambassador, Head of the EU Delegation to Uzbekistan Charlotte Adrian, Head of the Cooperation Department of the EU Delegation to Uzbekistan Francois Bejo, an employee of the Middle East Department/To the Persian Gulf and Central Asia for Cooperation and International Assistance, the Directorate General for Trade of the European Commission Titien Amati and responsible employees of the Ministry.

The agenda included issues of prospects for the development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union in the field of “green” development, economy and technology.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Uzbek side acquainted the guests with the current reforms and the work done in the field of “green" transition. They also discussed the strategy of transition to a green economy by 2030, which is already in the process of implementation.

The guests were also informed about the digital transformation programs. In particular, about the joint project with UNDP “Empowering youth for the development of the digital economy and digital entrepreneurship”.

The meeting also discussed possible areas of cooperation on the transition to a green economy, sustainable development, poverty reduction, human capital development and other areas.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation.
