Meeting with a representative of the United Nations Development Programme

On 13 October this year, the Mininstry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction hosted a meeting with the UNDP Adviser on Integrated Rehabilitation and Local Development Thomas Thorogood. The meeting was attended by Vokhid Rakhimov, Director of the Integrated Regional Development Department, Odil Usarov, Head of the Department for Coordination of Structural Reforms in Agriculture and Shukhrat Matkarimov, Director of International Cooperation and Protocol Service Development Department on behalf of the Mininstry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction .

The purpose of the meeting was to learn about UNDP activities in Uzbekistan and to discuss with national partners ongoing and planned projects in the Republic".
During the meeting, the foreign side was informed of the measures taken and strategies adopted for the socio-economic development of the regions (including the provision of electricity and drinking water) and agriculture, including the ongoing reforms on land relations.

The Uzbek side noted that over the last 5 years special attention was paid to urbanization, expansion of urban areas with all conditions.
Also, information on future plans on agricultural and water sector development within the framework of the developed Agricultural Development Strategy and the Concept of Water Sector Development in the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2020-2030 was presented.

It was stressed that for the purpose of employment, "Mono Centres" have been built in the regions to provide services as well as training of college graduates in various professions and businesses.
Particular attention was paid to the "Obod Kishlok - Obod Mahalla" development programme, in particular the results achieved under this programme.
The foreign side conveyed its readiness to provide assistance in all the above-mentioned areas.
