On September 2 this year, the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Jamshid Kuchkarov met with the Minister of Finance of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana Ashni Kumar Singh at the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction.

The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan Timur Ishmetov, and on the side of the guests, Assistant to the Minister of Finance of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana Safraaz Ahmad Shadud and Senior Economist of the World Bank for Uzbekistan Vinayak Nagaraj.

During the meeting, the parties discussed topical issues at the 46th annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank. Moreover, both sides exchanged experiences in overcoming the economic and social consequences of the coronavirus pandemic. In particular, increasing resilience in the face of COVID-19, the comprehensive development of youth, job creation and others.

At the meeting it was noted that the private sector is the most powerful "driver" for economic recovery, increasing employment and improving the quality of life of the population in the post-like period.

Also, the main topics for discussion were possible prospects for interaction between the two countries in various spheres of the economy.

The meeting was held in a warm, friendly and constructive atmosphere, and allowed an exchange of views on issues within the framework of the 46th annual meeting of the IDB Board of Governors.
