Videoconference with representatives of the China International Center for Poverty Reduction

On January 26 this year, representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction, the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in China and the China International Center for Poverty Reduction held a video conference.

It was attended by the Director of the Poverty Reduction Department of the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction - Ilkhom Mamatkulov, Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in China Botir Tursunov, Deputy Director General of the China International Center for Poverty Reduction - Li Xin, Deputy Director of the Research Department of the China International Center for Poverty Reduction Poverty - Ms. Xu Lipin, Head of Skills Development Department of China International Center for Poverty Reduction - Ms. Guo Yan, Deputy Head of Experience Sharing Department of China International Center for Poverty Reduction - Ms. Li Lin and Head of Cooperation Department of China International Center for Poverty Reduction reducing poverty - Liu Liuqun.
During the meeting, Ilkhom Mamatkulov touched upon the ongoing economic reforms in Uzbekistan, including measures to reduce poverty, as well as cooperation with relevant ministries and departments of China in this area.
In addition, Ms. Xu Liping gave a presentation on Reducing International Poverty, which discussed the following key areas:
recent reforms in China aimed at reducing poverty and their practical implications;
recommendations for the development and implementation of a targeted poverty reduction strategy;
a comprehensive analysis of the criteria for identifying the poor and the reasons for their decline.

In addition, Ms. Guo Yang informed about the organized training courses on poverty reduction, which were attended by representatives of foreign countries. According to her, by 2019, the Center held 159 international seminars, in which 4,233 people from 136 countries of the world took part. Since 2008, 25 Uzbek specialists have also taken part in these courses.
During the videoconference, Ms. Li made a presentation on China's efforts to create an international platform for poverty reduction, highlighting the activities carried out in cooperation with the Association of African, American and Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to expand cooperation in the following areas:
the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry and the China International Center for Poverty Reduction;
organization of regular seminars and trainings on poverty reduction by specialists from the China International Center for Poverty Reduction;
joint preparation of concept papers and involvement of experts from the China International Center for Poverty Reduction, including a presentation by a representative of the China International Center for Poverty Reduction in a round table on the draft Poverty Reduction Strategy 2030.
