The agenda of the meeting envisaged issues covering various spheres of economic cooperation of the CIS member states.
The event was attended by First Deputy Prime Ministers of Azerbaijan and Tajikistan, Deputy Prime Ministers of Belarus and Uzbekistan, Minister of Economy and Infrastructure of Moldova, First Deputy Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, plenipotentiaries of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in the Commission on Economic Affairs of the CIS, as well as the Chairman of the IC CIS S. Lebedev.
The heads of delegations of the Commonwealth countries briefly exchanged views on topical issues of economic interaction between the CIS countries, and the meeting participants were informed about the results of the implementation of the economic agenda of the presidency of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Commonwealth in 2020.
During the meeting, 15 issues on the agenda were considered regarding strengthening cooperation in the field of healthcare, land reclamation, management of state material reserves in the CIS member states, the Strategy for the Development of Hydrometeorological Activities, the Concept of Formation and Development of an Interstate Training System, Professional Retraining and Advanced Training of Personnel in the Innovation Sphere and insurance activities, the Complex of joint measures of the CIS member states to prevent and combat albumen disease for the period up to 2025, the draft Agreement on cooperation between the CIS member states to prevent and suppress the use of false trademarks and geographical indications, and a number of other measures.
The participants of the meeting also discussed organizational issues, in particular, the issue of holding the next 89th meeting of the CIS Economic Council on March 12, 2021 in Moscow (Russian Federation) was considered.
Following the meeting, the participants decided to continue economic cooperation, including within the framework of the Economic Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The speakers expressed gratitude to the Uzbek side for the high level of organization of the meetings of the CIS Economic Council in 2020, chaired by Uzbekistan. Next year the chairmanship passes to the Republic of Belarus.
